The day was a day like any other day Until I got the news that you had passed away I sat in the silence and waited for words- to emerge And slowly they sauntered in like mourners singing a dirge When the words were all together, there was a change in their song And suddenly my sorrow didn't feel so all alone Amazing, Astounding, Beautiful, and True Are a few of the words that come to mind when I think of you Dedicated, Defiant, Determined- Never to be contained Within any of the words we ascribe to you, or even in your name A thousand words, a thousand pictures- your essence transcends So I sit in the stillness, and the silence comes again I'm so thankful to have known you, my dearly departed friend- and I sorely miss your face That reminds me of the Infinite, and the underlying grace That holds together our existence that can never be defined In simple terms like "good" and "bad" and surely not "yours" and "mine" For...
